Variable is a community of filmmakers who care deeply about living well while pursuing creative goals. Topical meetings are moderated weekly for members to connect, share, and encourage one another throughout our wellness journeys. Members also gain access to our private social network, original content, and interactive events with trustworthy industry professionals.

Our Story and Podcast
In 2011, Variable launched as a commercial production company and creative collective. Variable produced dozens of award-winning campaigns for global brands while playing a pivotal role in the careers of many of today's most influential filmmakers.

While the journey to creating a recognized filmmaking brand was rewarding in many ways, Variable co-founder, Jon Bregel, felt deeply disconnected from his own wellness and personal life, ultimately making the decision to leave the company in 2019. Relaunched by Bregel in 2022, Variable has transitioned its focus towards to encouraging filmmakers who are eager to live well while pursuing career goals.

Coaching & Mentorship for Filmmakers
Coaching and mentorship is at the foundation of the Variable community. Variable founder & filmmaker, Jon Bregel, has been coaching & mentoring filmmakers for over a decade. Whether that’s been through helping filmmakers make pivots in their careers, break into branded content & commercials, developing industry-related businesses, representing directors, or encouraging filmmakers to live and work through their values, what drives Jon the most in his coaching work is seeing filmmakers’ visions for their lives & work come together.
A few areas of Jon’s coaching expertise include, but are not limited; clarity & direction, career direction, creative confidence, honing creative vision, creating and pitching treatments, defining and working from core values, project/business development & execution, structuring production companies, commercial representation, work/life balance, combatting burnout, and more.
